Beta Gold Is Deleted on October 21

6 sellers are trading WoW Forever gold today. All of it lives on beta characters, and every one of those characters is wiped when the beta closes. We list gold for a living and we are telling you not to buy it — that is how bad the deal is.

What is actually on sale right now

The beta opened on September 17 with a level cap of 20, raised to 30 partway through, and it runs until October 21, 2026. It is a test realm. Characters on it do not transfer to the live game; nothing on it does. Gold bought there buys you three weeks of a level-30 test character and then ceases to exist.

The listings tell the story if you read them as prices rather than as offers. The cheapest is $0.70 per gold. The dearest non-Hardcore listing is $23.14 — 33 times more, for the same product, on the same day. One Hardcore listing sits at $115.71 for a mode that is not in the game yet. A market with a 33-fold spread is not a market; it is a handful of people guessing while almost no gold exists in the world.

The one exception, and it is small

If you are testing on the beta and want to see a mount or a bag you would not otherwise reach at cap 30, that is a real reason to spend money, the same way people buy cosmetics. Just price it as entertainment for a month rather than as an asset. It is not an investment in your launch character, because there is no path from that character to this one.

What to do instead

  • Wait for November 4. Gold bought on a live character stays on it. That is the entire difference.
  • Watch the rate instead of the promise. Our tracker reads the market every day, so you can watch the spread close as real farmers arrive rather than take anyone's word for it.
  • Use the beta for what it is worth. Test node density, check what cooked food actually gives, learn where the new dungeons sit. That knowledge transfers even though the character does not.

After October 21 this page stops being a warning and becomes a record: what the pre-launch market looked like, what it charged, and how far off it was. We are keeping the numbers.
